The Advanced Eyecare Centre is excited to now offer our patients Optomap Ultra-Widefield Retinal Imaging.
An Optomap image provides a detailed picture of approximately 80% of the retina (the lining at the back of your eye), that both you and your doctor can view. Traditional methods of examining the retina only allow about 15% of the retina to be seen.
It is a quick, safe and painless procedure that can detect many different diseases in the eye, such as:
- Retinal Detachments, Holes & Tears
- Diabetes
- High Blood Pressure
- Cancer
Optomap images also reduces the need for your pupils to be dilated.
Who is a candidate for optomap imaging?
Almost anyone is a candidate, but these people in particular would benefit from Optomap imaging:
- People who cannot have their pupils dilated
- Children
- Pregnant Women
- Diabetics
